Walks on the Peninsula

Wednesday 19 December: Scarborough/Baskloof Reserve. A relaxing morning walk through this lovely private reserve onto Red Hill. A small permit fee payable. Wednesday 16 January: The contours above Chapman's Peak Drive – a shady, cool start to a very beautiful morning walk. Reasonably strenuous. Meet at 08h00 at the last parking lot shortly before the ticket checkpoint on Chapman's Peak Drive approached from the Hout Bay side (no toll fee for day hikers). Sunday 10 February: Myburgh’s Ravine. All Day Walk to see the Red Disas. Ascend Myburgh’s and descend at Llandudno Corner with lunch on the summit of Judas Peak. Meet at 08h00 at the Ruyterplaats parking area near Suikerbossie. Flowers should be good after the recent fire in the area. Guided Walks in Kirstenbosch

Kirstenbosch Gardens is indeed extremely fortunate to have an enthusiastic and hugely knowledgeable team of volunteer garden guides drawn from the Botanical Society. Each guide presents a unique tour taking in the highlights of the season. All tours are free.

Monday to Friday:
Leaving from Gate 1 (Visitors’ Centre): 90 minute walks at 10h00, 11h00 and 14h00
Leaving from Gate 2 (Garden Centre): 90 minute walks at 10h45

Saturday:
Leaving from Gate 1 (Visitors’ Centre): 90 minute walks at 10h00
Leaving from Gate 2 (Garden Centre): 90 minute walks at 10h45

No walks on Sundays.

Bird Walks in Kirstenbosch

These fascinating few hours getting to recognise some of Kirstenbosch’s feathered visitors are led by volunteers from the Cape and Tygerberg Bird clubs. All walks leave from the Information Desk at the main Visitors’ Centre Gate 1. The walks are free.
